From the holiday season to Valentine’s Day, to Mother’s Day, to Father’s Day, to Arbor Day, let’s be honest – we live in a culture that give us a perpetual excuse to shower the ones we love with gifts. But when it comes to buying something of a personal nature, it can be a little more tricky.
When giving a sexy gift, there are two types of givers- those who want to win the gift-giving competition by securing the perfect present and those who give gifts that are secretly (or not so secretly) gifts for themselves.
The best gifts actually take BOTH categories- things that make everybody’s eyes (and other things) light up. And, even better, the formula is pretty simple:
- Sexy: What is sexy to you? Lingerie? Cooking together? Travel? Most people give gifts they think their partner will find sexy. But, why don’t you try buying your partner something YOU find sexy and explaining to him/her why you find it sexy and how you can’t wait to use it with them. Everyone wants to know that their partner finds them sexy…so make it easy for them to say “yes.”
- Surprising: Now, think about what your partner finds sexy and something you’ve never tried. Maybe you’d like to experiment with a couple’s ring? Some bondage tape and a blindfold? Or maybe introducing a lubricant in a new way or a toy into your shower or bath. They key to this is to go for the “gasp” factor (as long as it’s not an area you know is off-limits for your partner). Take a risk- I promise it will pay off.
- Simple: This one is about being direct. Let your partner know what turns you on. Look them in the eye and tell them. Or write them a card. Or buy a book with questions you can both answer about your preferences. Just talking about what turns you on is guaranteed to up the temperature a few degrees.
- Relivable: Make this something that you can either do again or find a way to make it easily top-of-mind. Set it to music. Take pictures. Give a piece of jewelry that can be worn during your experience. The best gifts are the ones that keep on giving.
